Please Read: Info for Champs, MOC, and Awards Night
Hello Barracuda Parents,
There is a lot of information in this email, so please read the whole thing so you and your children do not miss out on any of the exciting things happening the next week and a half! The Championship Event on the team website has all documents for the meet.
Arrival Time for this weekend: Check-In will be 6:45 - 7:00am. If your child is not checked-in by 7:00 they will be scratched. Please do not be late. Remind your children to go to the check-in table as soon as the arrive at the pool. It will be in the same location as it was at the Woodcreek Meet. Text Coach Katie if you are stuck trying to park: 916-879-3296

Relay Assignments for Saturday are attached. They are subject to change based upon performances Sat morning. Sunday relays will be determined by Saturday’s short free results. The top 8 swimmers will be placed on a relay, with two alternates selected in case of illness or injury. Those families will be notified by Coach Katie Sunday morning. If your child has earned a relay or alternate spot you need to stay at finals until the relay swims. Each year alternates have been needed to fill out relays.
Ready Bench:
- All Swimmers must go through the ready bench – no exceptions.
- The entrance to the Ready Bench will be between the slide and splashpad fence and grass and side fence. (It is the same as it was at the Woodcreek meet)
- We are running two courses, by ODD and EVEN heat and they will be color coded. ODD side will be RED. EVEN side will be BLUE.
- All swimmers must be marked with their event/heat/lane in that order. Saturday events need to be placed on the right upper arm, Sunday events on the left upper arm. Meet Mobile is already up and running. Your child’s heat and lane assignments can be found there. They are also listed on the check-in sheet attached.
- For finals, alternates will need to report to the ready bench to see if they are needed.
- Please listen for announcements on when to report to the age group tent area. The Age Group parents will not be running around looking for swimmers. All 10 & Under Swimmers need to report to the age group tent and will be taken to the Ready Bench from there. Swimmers 11 and up will report to the ready bench on their own. Swimmers who miss an event will not be allowed to swim the rest of the day. This includes relays. So please be aware of the timeline and which event is being called to the Ready Bench.
This is a closed deck meet. That means that coaches, swimmers, and volunteers are the only ones allowed in the roped off areas. Please go to the stands to watch your children race. You will have a great view from the stands.
Warm-up lanes during the meet:
The rec pool located by the slide is the area for swimmers to warm-up before and cool down after races. It is not for playing or just hanging out. Swimmers need to get in, swim, and get out. Parent volunteers are the pool monitors and we want to make sure all of our Barracuda swimmers are respectful when in the warm-up area.
Meet of Champions Information:
We currently have 40 athletes that have qualified by their times to enter the meet. If your child earns a qualifying time or makes it into the Finals in an event, then they qualify for the meet. All of the meet info can be found on the team website. Entries are due Monday, so please discuss with a coach if your child wishes to attend.
- MOC practices will be held T – Th next week. 11 and up will practice from 7:30 - 8:45. 7 – 10 from 8:45 – 9:45. 6&un 9: 15 - 9:45
Fall Swim:
Does your swimmer want to keep training and improve during the “off season”? We are offering another fall and winter swim team to keep working on skills. The Fall Swim tab on the website has all of the information. New to the program this year is Christi Smith, who is offering our athletes a strength and stretching session three times a week! This is definitely going to help our Barracudas get stronger and more flexible. Are there any younger siblings or Lil Cudas out there wanting to keep practicing so they can be ready for March Clinic? If so, we have added a Pre-Team program that will be three days a week for the fall session. Assessments for new swimmers will be Friday, 8/7 at 9am and Saturday, 8/29 at 9am at the South side Pool.
Awards Night:

Champs T-Shirts and Splash and Dash Prizes:
After Checking in, athletes can go to the Spirit table and pick up their Champs T-shirts. The cooling towels and Splash and Dash prizes that haven’t been picked up yet will also be there.
Thank you so much for supporting your swimmer and the team by volunteering at Champs this weekend. It is the best weekend of the season and the kids have all been training so hard. We look forward to watching many great swims! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Coach Katie
